First Annual Blessing of the Boats
On August 1, 2020, in which the Church celebrates the Feast of the Procession of the Cross, the faithful of St. Mary Magdalene gathered together for Divine Liturgy and the lesser blessing of waters. Fr. Gabriel and some of the faithful then processed outside and welcomed local Kayakers to the property, where a very special blessing of the boats was held. Each participant received an icon card for their boats, as well as some snacks for the paddle that was ahead!
Fr. Gabriel went with the kayakers down the Shiawassee River, accessible on the parish property, and took a trip around Lake Ponemah and Tupper Lake, before ending at the Linden Mill Pond in the neighboring city. The group hopes to make the event an annual tradition!
